Innoptus Solar Team Secures Silver at the European Solar Challenge 

The Innoptus Solar Team has once again demonstrated the power of innovation, teamwork, and engineering excellence by securing second place at the 2026 iLumen European Solar Challenge on Circuit Zolder. As the world's only 24-hour endurance race for solar vehicles and the official European Championship, the event brings together the most advanced student engineering teams in solar mobility. 

Competing with the BluePoint Atlas, the team completed an impressive 310 laps over 24 hours, finishing just behind Solar Team Twente. Despite challenging weather conditions, including heavy rain during the night, the vehicle delivered a remarkably consistent performance with minimal technical issues. Thanks to an efficient energy strategy, the team required only a single charging stop to complete the race.

The weekend was not without setbacks. The team's second solar car, Infinite, experienced an accident during the rainy night after losing grip on the wet track. Although the driver remained unharmed, the vehicle sustained structural damage that could not be repaired within the team's strict safety standards, resulting in an early end to its race after 209 laps. 

With the European Solar Challenge completed, the focus now shifts to the 2027 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia. The team is already developing a new generation solar car that will compete over 3,000 kilometers through the Australian outback. Building on a proud history that includes world championship titles in 2019 and 2023, the Innoptus Solar Team is determined to continue pushing the boundaries of sustainable mobility and engineering innovation on the global stage.
